Thai Yoga (also known as Thai Massage) is a system of bodywork that combines elements of acupressure and yoga. Practitioners follow energy lines in the body to determine areas of “congestion” or tension, what we commonly feel as tightness or “knots”. When congestion is found, practitioners first apply pressure, then stretch and rotate the body to clear the lines and help energy flow without obstruction.
Thai Yoga is done on a cushioned mat on the floor; clients are fully clothed, as no oils or lotions are used. Sessions can be 60- or 90-minutes long. These sessions are an effective complement to other holistic treatments such as traditional massage, acupuncture, fitness and nutrition regiments. Benefits include: better posture and flexibility; reduced tension and decreased tightness in muscles; improved lymphatic and digestive functioning; decreased sinus pressure and nasal congestion; increased emotional well-being.
Private Yoga Instruction
Get Bent Yoga offers private yoga instruction to individuals, couples, or small groups. Whether you’re looking to start a regular yoga practice, or want to learn more advanced postures, Get Bent Yoga will tailor your sessions to your goals.
As yoga has grown in popularity over the past several decades, more and more people are incorporating it into their regular fitness/wellness regimens. Yoga studios abound and classes provide options for all levels and abilities; however, classes aren’t structured to address, in detail, the repeated misalignments or over-stretching that may lead to injuries. Private yoga instruction can fortify the foundation of your practice, teaching proper alignment and breathing that can stave off injuries, as well as provide a greater understanding of how more advanced postures can eventually become part of your regular practice.
Sessions for individuals and couples are effective at targeting specific issues and more personalized attention. Small group classes are fun for companies, bridal parties, and birthdays.
